Army chief Katawal on leave from Monday

The Defense Ministry on Friday accepted the leave letter forwarded by Chief-of-Army-Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal. In the letter, CoAS Katawal informed the government that he will stay on leave starting Monday. Katawal also informed that he has entrusted Lt. General Chhatra Man Singh Gurung, the second-in-command, with the responsibility of Acting Army chief of Nepal Army from the same day.

As per the tradition in the Nepal Army, the Army chief stays on leave one month prior to his retirement. Katawal is retiring as the Army chief from Sept 9.
